The Banana's Cooking Corner Vol. 1
Sep. 28th, 2008 03:46 pmThis post will be the first in a series of cooking tips. Today's lesson:
Steamed Rice!
Rice is a nice, basic staple and goes well with any dish. The following method will be for those who don't have a rice cooker.
You will need:
- 1/2 cup rice
-1 cup water
-Saucepan with lid
Put water in saucepan and bring it to a boil over medium-high heat. Add rice and cover. Drop heat to low. Let steam for 15-20 minutes, checking occasionally. Once the water has been absorbed, remove from heat and let cool, leaving the cover on. Makes 1 cup cooked rice, but you can adjust the amount like this:
1 cup of water to every 1/2 cup rice. So if you need 2 cups of cooked rice, increase the water to 2 cups and the rice to 1 cup. I'll cover some rice recipes next installment, but for now, go forth and practice rice making!
Good luck and happy cookings!
