SAN DIEGO!
Okay, I think I got most of my photos uploaded and ready to go. So now here's a recap of the trip to SAN DIEGO!
Dy and I drove down on Friday afternoon and managed to make it to the hotel around 7pm. We hit a snag with the directions since we were on Broadway and we needed WEST Broadway. After a little while, we found the hotel and met up with le Robin and Annie. After that, TACOS.

From outside Lucha Libre Taco Shop. Our reservation ran late, so we waited outside. Luckily, it was nice out. On the other side, we had to park quite a ways out. Their parking area was packed.

The Champion's booth. You have to make your reservation at least 24 hours in advance, but it was worth it. The service and the food was amazing. My only real gripe was the rice. No peas and carrots in Spanish rice, plz. And the price was pretty reasonable, too. Definitely check it out in you're in the area.
The next morning we headed out to Ocean Beach. I haven't been to the beach since my Florida days, so this was definitely a treat. The weather was really nice, and while we were walking around, I found a UT College bar...? Wish I got a photo, but it was there!

My artsy seagull pics.

The coast from either side of the pier.

An almost!cool shot of a surfer. He didn't quite make it.
After that, we headed to Old Town. This is a very touristy area, but for some reason I really like it. We bought lots of candy and poked around several shops.

Classy cactus carvings. :|

NOOOOOOOoooooooo bueno!

Live music. They were playing "Ecstasy of Gold" or the main title from The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.

Coming this fall, Lucharanger.
From there, Dy and I hung out in the Gaslamp and had overpriced beer and cigars. Because nothing says mindfuck quite like smoking cigars legally in California.
The last day consisted of import shopping and taking in lots of pizza and ice cream. Though I was tempted by this:

It's a travel mug with characters from Samurai Sentai Shinkenger. They also had figures, but I was running low on cash so I passed on them. ;;
And randomly, photos from the hotel:

The fake owl proved to be a good exercise for my zoom lens.

From the open window on our floor. None of the windows had screens. It was kinda cool and scary.
All in all, a great time. I hope to be back soon... as long as I don't have to drive as much. XD

My initial visit back in 2009 left a decent impression on me, despite the jammed streets of Comic Con. The traffic still sucks, but I had a great time.
You should definitely give it another try and check out the city. :3

Oh I so take that back, I went to Comic Con too. Didn't really see much of the city apart from the few blocks between our hotel and the con, but that was fun at least.
And yeah, the traffic will always suck. Aaaalways.

I think we reached SD around 6:30-7pm, so most of rush hour was tapering off. When we were driving down, the northbound lane was jammed up around Riverside. There were two accidents. :x
