Random Manga Question

I know a couple of you folks have published comics, so I ask:

Do you use manga/comic software at all? I'm curious since I saw a few software titles at the local Fry's and I wanted to get some feedback before I made any kind of commitment. If not, what do you recommend?

Also, what do you use when it comes to printing them?

I in fact, do not! I did everything myself, speech bubbles included, in Photoshop. I could make it easier and do it in a program like that, but I don't for some reason. I might just do it in the future because it's probably better for working out how big the pages need to be and resizing them properly.

Wow, that's a lot of hard work and dedication! And it does show in your printed comic. :D

Where did you go to get 'em printed anyway? I think you may have mentioned it, but I forget.

I got them printed at Ka-blam.com. I'm sure there are cheaper methods but I'm not sure what those are. XD

I think it's better to develop your workflow using as wide a range of tools as you can before committing to something. I've gone through various processes involving pencil, ink, Photoshop, Painter, Illustrator, InDesign and Manga Studio over time.

Manga Studio's a lot like Photoshop in that knowing stuff about making comics (in Photoshop's case it's photography/darkroom) means you're a much better user compared to someone who's never drawn one. I know what all that shit in MS does, but only because I had to draw all of my speed lines by hand five or ten years ago XD

I print colour with a friend who works at a print shop and black and white on a heavy-duty laser printer at home, but I'm crazy!

Sweet, I'll check that out. Thanks. <3

This is more of a side project I've been tinkering with for a few years. I have a script and a few sketches so far, but due to work and other commitments that easily kill inspiration, I haven't had a chance to work on much since. That and I have access to pencils, ink, pens, scanner, and photoshop. XD It's not much, but it's a start. I'll probably end up investing in at least a tablet so I can get comfortable with properly shooping everything.

Wow, I'd be happy if I could afford ink for my regular printer. XD That's good to know though once this thing starts taking shape. Thanks for your input! :D
