Yaoicon 2007!
Here's the giant post we've all been waiting for. Y-con 2007 has wrapped up and now I eagerly await 2008. First, here's my batch of photos from the con and a couple from the city.

I has a Jetfire!

Our lovely view

Bathroom, bathroom!

The lobby

A cute Toshiro plushie

A live!Toshiro

More lobby & second floor

An Advent Children!Cloud who was with Zack. Also good people.

Kalli, Tora, our new friend Sherry (I hope that was her name ^^;;), and our server Chain Man at the Bishonen cafe. I'm in the second photo. :3

Some bishies performed for us.

April the bunny

The massive line in the courtyard for the main events.
nemesyx and I waited for like an hour and it was STILL long. So we gave up and left.

A Naruto marriage ceremony. Only got the priest Kakashi.

A lovely Anji Mito

A lounging Vice

Kalli as Melissa. Lots of brains were broken.

The gang in Japantown. Didn't turn out as good as I hoped, but still not bad.

A giant good luck cat inside a Japantown lot. For some reason, it amused me.
Wed./Thurs. - This was my first year driving up. Tora and I drove overnight in J'onn ver. 2.0 (who was an awesome car), and oh GOD it was boring. We received a cracked windshield somewhere in Barstow and lost the gas cap at a service station in Bakersfield. After that everything was peachy...
Then we reached San Fran/Oakland/San Mateo/Daly City. I got lost since none of the streets were marked with where we needed to go. Thankfully we found a way back to where we needed to go. And despite getting lost we still made good time.
After a nap in Gnome's room and checking into our room, I headed out to meet everyone in Japantown. I got stuck in rush hour traffic, but at least I made it to my destination in a somewhat timely manner. Unfortunately, our next goal of finding a Target wasn't as easy. The city needs more Targets, dammit! Eh, at least it was a 2 story one. I scored a sealed Gamest's All About SNK book and Vols. 9 & 13 of Keroro Gunsou at the bookstore and had a tasty green tea ice cream crepe.
Highlight of the day: All of us singing along to Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody" while driving on the 101.
Fri. - We took it easy and registered for the con. I took a few photos and chatted online with people and told them I made it to the hotel in one piece. That night Tora, Kalli, and I went to the bishie cafe to have a small dinner with our bishie waiter, Chain Man. The wait was horrendous, even with our reservations, but it was still a good time. Tora even got a quick butt wiggle from Manchu.
Sat. - I woke up bright and early to get a good spot for the Dealer's Room. The selection was mediocre at best, though I did manage to grab a box of GGXX # Reload game cards, two doujin (a Cid/Vincent and a Phoenix Wright), a Bleach doujin for Kim and Geoff, and a grab bag for Nanaki. I also grabbed a commission for a Ky/Venom because I'm strange like that and bought a mini-heartless pony from Nuri. But most of my cash went to Japantown and Trader Joe's.
As said above, Nemesyx and I tried to get tickets for some of the main events, but the line was massive! So we gave up and went to grab lunch. When we came back, everyone was GONE. Yeah, that sucked. It's like nothing ever happened. At least he got a hug from a cute guy in dreads.
I didn't do much else other than hang out online and watch Fujimi Orchestra in the video room. Though I did play a few rounds of GG: Accent Core. I got my ass beat by an Asian crossplaying schoolgirl. And they were GOOD. I was honored to be defeated by such a cool player.
Sun. - I did some more shopping in the Dealer Room, but nothing caught my eye. I grabbed a few pins from one of the artists and took my revenge in Accent Core. I managed to squeeze in some GH III, and I WANT THAT GAME, if only to master "Cliffs of Dover".
We took a second trip to Japantown to meet with some of Tora's friends, and we hit more traffic. >.< On top of that I got lost. That city is so poorly set up it's not even funny. We did get there in time before the bookstore closed, and afterward we had sushi at Fuku, possibly the best sushi joint in the city, if not the west coast. Big claim, I know. But their eel is melt-in-your-mouth good. It's expensive, but so worth it. We tried going to the Ninja Market (actually the Ninjiya Market, but Kalli misread the sign and now it's forever known as Ninja Market), but it had already closed.
That evening, Kalli and I went to show something to Gnome, but we ended up hanging out at by the pool with Zalia (Gnome's roomie), Zack, Cloud, a Reno, and a young lady dressed as a Naruto character. One of the bishies was also there, and he stripped down to his skivvies in order to take a dip in the spa. During our hanging out, an old guy on the 3rd floor watched us, only to be waved at and flipped off by our group. The bishie ended up running off with a vampire and his group (buck naked no less). All in all, a good time.
Monday I drove Tora back to her house, surviving both San Fran and Los Angeles gridlock. It took me an hour to reach the I-15 to get home, but only three hours to reach Las Vegas. Go figure. I was just happy I made it home in one piece.
I had a good time, but while I was there I felt disconnected. I'm part of the fighting game fandom, and I'm well aware of its status. It just sucks that there's less and less of it every year, especially for those of us who are part of the fighter yaoi fandoms. Next year will be my final Y-con year, and I hope to go out with a bang. After that I'll most likely be attending Oni-con in Houston. Either way, I'll always have awesome memories of this con.
