I have returrnnnneeeedd!!

I have to say that I had a blast while I was in beautiful B.C. Canada. Honestly, it was much like several other places I've visited, but at the same time it was unique. That's the only way I know how to describe it. It was gorgeous.

Day 1: The flight was a lot more pleasant than my previous ones. It was far from full, so there was a nice space between me and the guy in the aisle seat. 2 hours and 10 minutes later we arrived at the Vancouver Airport, where my luggage was like one of the first five pieces off the conveyor belt. I wasn't sure where the Mollyness [livejournal.com profile] enerjak was gonna pick me up, and my flight was pretty early, so after answering questions for Customs, I plopped around baggage claim and played some Sword of Mana. After that I got cleared by security and went on to meet the great Molly. She took me to my hotel (kickass place, that Aston Pacific Inn is XD), let me unpack, and took me to have some authentic Canadian cuisine...

Tim Horton's.

Ahh, it was a lovely end to the first day. Yay turkey club and Tim Bits!

Day 2: Not much happened this day. I met Molly's kickass roommate Terri (I hope I spelled that right) and her beareded dragons Bowser and Koopa. I needed my hair cut, so we went to a walk-in hairdressing school. The woman did a great job, though it took her like an hour to shear my hair due to the great thickness of it. We stopped at a local sushi restaurant and hung out, shopped around for deals at the local thrift store.

Day 3: It's Anime Evolution Time! Molly got some directions off of Mapquest and we headed out to Simon Fraser University. Needless to say we got lost a few times due to the damn directions being so confusing (Cariboo Road NOOOOO!), but we managed to find it. She and I ran around separately. While she chatted with some friends at Artists' Alley, I took photos of costumes and waited in line for the Dealer's Room. I took my time in there, only to score a CloudxReno doujinshi for Molly. I went into the gaming area for a bit and whipped down some guys at KoF 2003. Praise be to my Blue Team of Billy/Shingo/Joe!

Day 4: Today I cosplayed as Vice, and ended up with one person asking me for a photo. Yay! Some more of Molly's friends joined us and hung out some more. I managed to score more stuff in the Dealer's Room this time: a JoJo statue, SvC Chaos strategy guide, and some manga I've been looking for. Unfortunately, I didn't bring anything back for friends due to the overwhelming Naruto domination. The Artists' Alley was where most of my cash went, with some Billy or Vega or Venom-centric artwork.

Day 5: The last day of the con. Molly was entered in a Zoolander-style walk-off, and she entered as the unstoppable Hansel. I paid my tribue to Billy Kane in a Chelsea Football jersey and my bandanna for this special day. The walk-off was brutal, as the guys did anything and everything to outdo their chosen rivals. Sadly, our Hansel/Molly hurt her ankle and couldn't participate and win like she was supposed to. The victory eventually went to the Ringtone Dancer, a crazy guy in purple disguised as a cute Tidus cosplayer. After picking up my art winnings (a beautiful Sailor Saturn piece from the auction), we headed home and nursed Molly's ankle. And we met Terri's familia. And played some more Resident Evil. And I cooked! Woooo!

Day 6: Molly had an interview this day, so we didn't hang out until late. With some help from me, Molly beat Jill's sequence in Resident Evil on the Gamecube. With the victory she got some fanart of Jill handing in her 1 day notice to S.T.A.R.S. They could kiss her ass for putting her through that crazy mansion. Barry, go pick your own damn locks! XD

Day 7: Even though the con was lukewarm in general, I still had a great time with Molly and her friends. Buuut poor Molly had to work and she wasn't even informed until a few hours before. So after dropping some Canadian cash on a new Gameboy SP and a Tales of Crackonia guide Molly called Terri to hang out with me before I had to fly out. She took me to White Rock's beach and that's where I got my taste of forests, beaches, and mountains all at once. Needless to say, it was breathtaking. After some ice cream and window shopping Terri introduced me to the semi-famous Oxford Hill. It's a road that's so steep it basically looks like a wall. I can only imagine the car wrecks that have happened in that area. Soon afterwards Molly got off of work and she returned me to the airport, where I learned my flight was cancelled and I had to take another airline into Vegas.

Canadian Pros:

-Almost perfect weather
-Friendly people and atmosphere
-Sushi EVERYWHERE
-Tim Horton's sour cream Tim Bits
-Lenient censoring on TV programming
-Molly and her co-horts
-Thescenerythescenerythescenery...
-Diverse culture
-Real sugar in soft drinks (Fuck you high fructose corn syrup!)

Canadian Cons:

-Gas prices!!! (After some calculations, it's about $5 American per gallon. We no longer have the right to bitch about gas prices)
-Bugs
-Everything's in French instead of Spanish
-White Rock is expensive to live in as opposed to visiting

And that aboot wraps up my visit to Canadia. I'm seriously considering a change in scenery, so we'll see what happens here in Vegas before I make any rash traveling decisions. Thank you guys for making my trip a memorable one! :D
